Hansel and Gretel Receives Mediocre Review

I'm sure you have all heard the tale of Hansel & Gretel. You know, the two kids who wandered into the woods, found the house made of candy only to find out they were being "prepared" to be eaten by the ugly witch. Have you ever wondered what happened to them once they grew up?
Most people would probably say "Yea, they got away from the witch and lived happily ever after."
Well, maybe it wasn't such a fairy tale ending. Then again, what kind of happy ending is killing witches the rest of your life?
Personally, I was looking forward to seeing this movie last March. At the last minute, they cancelled the release after showing to a select audience and receiving very poor feedback. Almost a year later, they finally released Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters. However, for a movie that has spent years in the making, I could see where some may feel disappointed.

"There are some funny lines, and several cool battle scenes between the hunters and their black-magic prey. But even in 3D the effects fall flat as often as they impress with little attention paid to important details" Elizabeth Weitzman, reporter at New York Daily News, said.

Even though I was happy with the way the movie turned out, I find myself agreeing with the critics. Several scenes in this movie did fall short of my expectations as well. For a rated R movie, you expect the battle scenes to give you an "I can't watch" reaction instead of a "that's it?".
I would definitely recommend seeing it, however I do not think I will be willing to purchase the movie to own at home.
